✨ Christmas Lights of Paris

The Must-Sees of
Parisian Christmas Lights

The Champs-Élysées blazing under 300,000 lights. The grands magasins with their illuminated window displays. The Eiffel Tower in winter. Paris at Christmas is its most deliberately beautiful version.

Paris invests in its Christmas illuminations with a seriousness that few cities match. The Champs-Élysées, lit by 450 plane trees wrapped in 300,000 cool-white lights, is the defining image of the season in France. The grands magasins — Galeries Lafayette and Printemps — produce animated window displays that are among the finest public visual art the city offers. And beyond these famous spectacles, the city is scattered with more intimate illuminations — neighbourhood decorations, lit courtyards, the particular quality of the Eiffel Tower's amber glow against a cold winter sky — that reward the visitor who moves slowly and pays attention. This circuit covers all of it, in sequence, at the right pace.

What Makes This Circuit Different

🌙
An evening circuit — always

The illuminations are designed to be seen in darkness. I offer this circuit exclusively in the evening, from around 5 p.m. onward — the moment when the lights achieve their full effect and the city changes register.

🚗
The Champs-Élysées from a moving vehicle

The full impact of 450 lit trees extending towards the Arc de Triomphe is impossible to appreciate from the pavement. From the car, moving at the speed of traffic, the perspective is transformative.

🎄
The grands magasins as public art

The window displays at Galeries Lafayette and Printemps are not decorations — they are the work of teams of craftspeople working for months. I time the circuit to include them at the moment the street is most alive around them.

❄️
A warm vehicle for a cold city

December in Paris is cold. I keep the Ioniq 5 heated throughout the circuit. Clients who want to step out and photograph at any point can; those who prefer to stay warm can see everything from inside.

Book Early —
December Fills Quickly

This is the most requested circuit of the year, and December availability fills weeks in advance. If you are planning a Paris visit in late November, December or early January and want to include this circuit, I strongly recommend booking as soon as your dates are confirmed. I keep a waiting list for cancelled dates but cannot guarantee availability for late bookings in peak season.

The circuit runs from mid-November (when the main illuminations switch on) through early January (when they are taken down). The specific switch-on dates vary by location — I confirm the current programme at booking.

Chauffeur's Tips

  • Book as early as possible for December dates — this is the circuit with the highest demand and the least flexibility in scheduling
  • Dress for a cold evening: the moments when we step out of the vehicle are short but the temperatures in December can be close to zero
  • The Eiffel Tower sparkling display is the natural endpoint for this circuit — we time the route to arrive at the best viewpoint with ten minutes to spare
